Hawker Pacific gains key Bombardier Dash 8/Q-Series service appointment. | |||||||||
| Australasia's
leading aircraft sales and product support company, Hawker Pacific, has
been appointed as a Recognised Service Facility for Bombardier's Dash 8/Q-Series
aircraft, confirming its market leadership in high-end aircraft maintenance
within the region.
The Bombardier RSF appointment becomes effective from August 8 and will add significantly to Hawker Pacific's aircraft maintenance endorsements in Australia, Asia and the Pacific. Hawker Pacific chief executive, Alan Smith said the Bombardier appointment represented a significant opportunity for the company and was consistent with its long-term strategy for further expansion, particularly within Asia. "It aligns with our strengths of providing heavy maintenance checks and services for regional airlines and also fits with our regional expansion plans," he said. "We would like to think that, from Bombardier's perspective, it is a perfect fit for their organization as well." Mr Smith said that while, over time, Hawker Pacific
would handle Bombardier's service requirements utilising all of its Australian
and Asian facilities, the initial focus of its operations would be through
the company's cutting-edge facility in Cairns. He said that from a strategic standpoint, the Bombardier endorsement reflected Hawker Pacific's goal to grow market share of the regional turbo-prop market. "The bottom line is that the increasing use of turbo-props has highlighted a shortage of qualified and experienced repair and maintenance facilities in the region and our RSF agreement with Bombardier will help relieve that pressure," Mr Smith said. Todd Young, Bombardier Regional Aircraft's VP
of Customer Support said: "The appointment of Hawker Pacific as the
RSF for the Dash 8/Q-Series aircraft reflects the quality of the company's
ratings, facilities and experience in aircraft heavy maintenance. Hawker
Pacific has a strong and increasing presence in the Asian region which
is an area of high demand for our aircraft. Providing a highly qualified
Heavy Maintenance facility at our customers' doorstep is in line with
our aim to provide greater levels of support in the region. We therefore
see the establishment of this RSF as the beginnings of a relationship
that will continue to grow." Mr Smith paid tribute to the support provided
by the Queensland Government in securing the Bombardier RSF, particularly
with respect to securing the necessary accreditation to work on the sophisticated
electronic cockpits which are a feature of the latest Q-Series aircraft. Notes
