Malaysia becomes aviation hub of the globe |

Today, the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato' Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak officially inaugurated Skypark FBO Malaysia to mark a new era in Malaysian aviation history. In a bold move to develop the aviation industry into a significant player on the world stage, the ExecuJet Aviation Group based in Switzerland and Hawker Pacific based in Australia –two major aviation organisations within the region have been appointed to operate a world class Fixed Base Operation (FBO) to operate at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, Subang. ExecuJet Aviation Group, a leading global aviation organization that is currently expanding throughout the region – Malaysia, Moscow, Mumbai and Beijing – and Hawker Pacific, a market leader in integrated civil and military aerospace sales and product support with 16 offices throughout South East Asia, Australia, the Pacific and the Middle East, recently sealed a joint venture initiative in Geneva to include Skypark Malaysia as one of its respective chain of worldwide FBOs. The joint venture initiative between these two leading global aviation organizations called Skypark FBO Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. will offer full handling facilities plus VIP lounge and fuel provision with future plans to operate Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) hangers and aircraft parking hangers as part of the broader vision for SkyPark Subang. “Malaysia is strategically located along the routes linking the Far East and Australia to Europe and the United States providing a convenient stopover for refuelling and other purposes” said Datuk Ravindran Menon, Executive Director of Subang Skypark Sdn. Bhd. Gerrit Basson, Group Managing Director of ExecuJet Aviation Group, said “We are excited to be a part of the growing improvement within the region by bringing two experienced partners to share skills and resources complementing Malaysia’s vision along side both parties’ commitments to the fast growing Asian aviation industry” Alan Smith, Chief Executive Officer of the Hawker Pacific Group, added “Our company has, since its inception in 1978, had a substantial presence in the Asian region providing a broad range of services to business and general aviation. The FBO joint venture operation is an exciting opportunity for us to grow the Malaysian aviation market and to position Kuala Lumpur as a major hub in Asia”. Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, Subang is to receive a US$91 million injection of funds to transform its Terminal 3 into a corporate aviation hub, a redevelopment project being undertaken by Subang Skypark, an independent company. Scheduled for completion by 2010, phase two of the project involves the construction of dedicated MRO and aircraft parking hangars. The Skypark FBO Malaysia provides aircraft operators, their passengers and aircrew with a diverse range of professional FBO services for business and private flights, including tailored solutions for VIP, diplomatic and large aircraft operations. Furthermore, Skypark FBO Malaysia will build the service offering to provide over-flight and landing clearances, organizing in-flight catering and providing a complete menu of ground handling and concierge services including aircraft marshalling, parking, fuel, aircraft valet, hangarage, security, customs and immigration, passenger and baggage handling, limousine transfers and hotel accommodation. The launch of Skypark FBO Malaysia was also attended by Datuk Ong Tee Keat, Minister of Transport, Malaysia.
